Writer's Retreat: Story Structure

What makes a good story? Is it the descriptions? Is it the characters? Or is it the plot? All of these things contribute to making a good story, but it will fall flat if it's not structured like a story.

There are several different ways you can lay out your plot, from the Pixar model to the more common, 3-act story. Ley Esses breaks down the different structures to help you figure out which format is best for you.

The presentation was given and recorded at the 2019 AspenHouse Writer's Retreat. Find the slideshow below.

Videos used in this presentation include Geri's Game by Pixar, and a scene from The Two Towers by J.R.R Tolkein.
